Stunning Karanganyar Reog Festival
The Atrakif action of the Reog players is the spectator of the art festival in Karanganyar Square on Sunday (11/5/2017) afternoon. As many as eight traditional art groups showed their skill in mastering the peacock's bust and dancing in warok costumes.
Eight groups of reog artists from various regions in Karanganyar, namely Reog Putra Pringgodani, Reog Singo Guno, Reog Singo Utama, Reog Gembong Lawu, Reog Singo Dinar, Reog Pancot Mulyo, Reog Singo Gilang, and Reog Singo Langit. Each group has an art studio which is an art icon in its area. Reog groups looked good at playing their respective roles. There are gamelan musicians, Warok, Jathil, Dadak Merak, Prabu Klono Sewandono, and Bujang Ganong. A very reactive audience every time they see an interesting reog performance, clapping and cheering. Understandably, reog art is not usually displayed in the city center. Only certain people are able to invite him, let alone the cost is not cheap.

"There were seven groups from Tawangmangu Subdistrict, and one from Jumantono Subdistrict. Coincidentally, the 10th Formi (Federation of Community Recreation Sports) jamboree was held. Many participants from outside Java wanted to see Karanganyar art. Therefore the District Government supported to invite and hold Festivals. Reog, "Sumarno, Chairman of the Karanganyar Reog Festival Committee, told KRJOGJA.com.
He said, the art of reog in Karanganyar developed rapidly in many art studios. One of them is in Sidoharjo Village, Pereng Village, Mojogedang. The Reog developed in this village is a cultural mix from Ponorogo which is integrated from the region itself. The art of Birowo Condo Reog in Pereng Village is usually performed when village activities. Birowo's Reog Condo art summarizes the show using jaranan and mask (Penthol).
Attractions after attractions are displayed for each group for 30 minutes. Some even show five Dadak Merak and 10 warok. The most awaited attraction when a reog player moves is not like a trance.

Regent of Karanganyar, Juliyatmono, Deputy Regent of Karanganyar, Rohadi Widodo, and several Heads of OPD were present at the event.
"Reog is native to the Indonesian nation, so our obligation is to preserve culture. This is also entertainment for the community," said Regent Juliyatmono. (Lim).
