Cultural Tourism Praiyawang Custom Village, Rindi Village

In Sumba there are still many traditional villages that still hold fast to the preservation of their customs, one of which is the Indigenous Village of Praiyawang. Located in Rindi Village, Rindi Subdistrict, about 69 km to the east of Waingapu City, the atmosphere of the past civilization was very strong when entering this village. Starting from the architecture of the Sumba house with a tall tower, a line of megalithic old graves of nobles with a characteristic sculpture carved with meaning. In addition to old stone graves, visitors can see traditional houses, ancestral relics such as gongs, tambur and traditional clothes that are hundreds of years old but still well maintained.

The Big House (Harapanuna Traditional House / Uma Bokul) is currently used as a storage place for corpses which are also used in special rituals such as the customary rituals of the kings' death, while Uma Ndewa is used specifically for traditional ritual shaving for the newborn king's child. Access to this village is quite difficult because there is no direct accommodation from Waingapu to this village, but visitors can rent a motorbike / car from Waingapu.
