Langsat is still one family with duku with the Latin name Lansium domesticum. From the tree, Langsat looks thinner than the dense fruit with thick leaves. Langsat stem is not as big as duku and has a vertical branching with dark green leaves. The next difference is in the fruit which has thinner skin than Duku, besides that Langsat has a more acidic taste and more gum content than Duku. This causes the Langsat fruit to rot faster when picked from the tree than the duku fruit. Generally, in about 3 days the Langsat fruit peel will blacken even though the fruit taste is still good.
