Langsat, Simple Fruit with Extraordinary Benefits
At first glance it looks like Duku. The round fruit is yellow with several black spots around it and generally cluster together in one stalk. Langsat is still one family with duku with the Latin name Lansium domesticum. Even though it has many similarities in terms of its external appearance, Langsat has many significant differences with the duku we usually encounter. From the tree, Langsat looks thinner than the dense fruit with thick leaves. Langsat stem is not as big as duku and has a vertical branching with dark green leaves. The next difference is in the fruit which has thinner skin than Duku, besides that Langsat has a more acidic taste and more gum content than Duku. This causes the Langsat fruit to rot faster when picked from the tree than the duku fruit. Generally, in about 3 days the Langsat fruit peel will blacken even though the fruit taste is still good.
Even though in plain view it is superior to Duku fruit than Langsat, but it should be noted that Langsat has a fairly high calorie and vitamin content. In 100 grams of Langsat fruit, it contains 70 calories, 1 gram of protein, 0.2 grams of fat, 13 grams of carbohydrates, 0.7 grams of minerals, 18 mg of calcium, 9 mg of phosphorus, and 0.9 iron. No wonder if in terms of calories, minerals and iron fruit Langsat is a higher level than Apples or Oranges.
