Dangdut Is Indonesian Nation Culture?
Dangdut is a musical genre that is an indigenous cultural creativity of the Indonesian people even though the originals originated from a mix of other musical elements such as Malay, Western, Arabic, Hindustan and regional cultural musical elements.
The emergence of the term Dangdut in the 60-70s era was one of them due to the struggle for claims between Indonesia and Malaysia, where at that time Malay music was claimed to belong to these two nations. In this case, Indonesia finally relented and separated from the Malay music which eventually was claimed to belong to Malaysia. Since then the Dangdut music that actually appeared was not much different from Malay music at that time. Only the identity distinguishes the work of these two cognate artists.
The next development is that Dangdut music is not always Malay. There are several elements of music originating from other national cultures such as Arabic, Hindustan and Western which influence the color of Dangdut's music itself.
The lyrics of Dangdut's songs which are full of literature, and poetry as in Malay songs are beginning to fade, although there are still some that still exist with the lyrics of puitus. Likewise, the more modern style of music follows the development of the music of the World which is currently a trend.
The emergence of the song Beautiful Doll from India popularized by Ellya Khadam proves that Dangdut music that is synonymous with Malay has begun to change course. Followed by a song called "Dangdut" which was created by Rhoma Irama which was clearly far from the elements of Malay music.
In the early 70s, Rhoma Irama again made a new breakthrough in music. Dangdut has more color with a touch of Rock in Deep Purple, the legendary Western music group. Lots of Dangdut songs by Rhoma Irama were given a touch of Rock music.
In subsequent developments and certainly in a more modern era, Dangdut has developed into music that has more other musical influences. Not only Rock, but also Jazz, Disco, Chaca, Salsa, Country, Blues and so on.
At the end of the 90s or early 2000s Dangdut developed even more in terms of the style and color of the music, namely with the emergence of Dangdut Koplo which had the influence of regional music regions (Cirebon, Jaipong, and Banyuwangi). Likewise with the emergence of Jandhut Koplo which is a combination of 3 elements of music at once namely Dangdut, Koplo and Jathilan music.
From the development of Dangdut music above, it can be concluded that Dangdut is the original music of the work and creativity of the Indonesian nation which is influenced by various other musical elements.
