Hunting the Sunset on Flagpole Beach, Rote
The charm of the beauty of Rote Island seems endless to discuss, starting from the ranks of Nembrala Beach, Bo'a, Oeseli to the hills that have unique beauty characteristics. For those of you who are starting a trip to Rote from Kupang using a fast boat from the Port of Tenau, when they arrive at the port of Ba'a (the capital of Rote Ndao Regency) you will see 2 very historic reefs, namely Batu Boloanak and Batu Tiang Bendera that jutting into the sea forms a promontory.
Located about 5 km from the city of Ba'a, there is a beach that is quite unique named the Flagpole Beach. This Batu Tiang Bendera is actually a cluster of coral islands that are about 500 m from the lip of Baadale Beach. Giving the name of the Flag Pole against the background of the heroic events of the Rote people's struggle expelled the Dutch colonizers. Why is it called Flagpole? Because on the rocks that are in the middle of the sea, there is a 2.5 meter high stone monument that was deliberately built by the Dutch. It is said that the pole was a marker of Dutch colonies in his day. Visitors can climb the cliff, but must exercise caution because of their sharp edges. Visitors should use adequate footwear. If the water is receding, visitors can also enter the coral rock caves found in their coral clusters.
Tiang Bendera Beach is indeed one of the best mainstay places to enjoy the sunset (sunset) on Rote Island. Towards the afternoon, the beach was visited by local young men and women who wanted to see the beauty of the sunset. On the coast of the sand the beach also appears several lopo-lopo (a kind of bale / gazebo used for relaxing) with a red roof. If visitors come in the afternoon, the beach is receding but the beauty of this beach does not recede. Decorated with a number of rocky rock with varying shapes and sizes that add to the charm of this beach.
