5 Types of Rare Birds in Endangered Indonesia

Smpn 1 Bungkal - As a country with the world's largest tropical rainforest habitat, Indonesia is a country rich in natural and biological resources.

Exotic types of flora and fauna can be found throughout the country.

Unfortunately this is not understood by the Indonesian people. This appreciation for natural resources is still very lacking.

Indonesia has many rare bird species which have even been declared extinct by some ornitologists.

This happened because of the increasing rate of forest destruction plus the presence of large-scale bird catching for trafficking.

Of 1,598 species of Indonesian birds, 121 of them are endangered.

This type of rare bird varies. Ranging from water birds, honey birds, to fruit eaters.

Here are some of Indonesia's endangered species that are endangered

5 Types of Rare Birds in Endangered Indonesia

Kuau Raja

These birds live in areas of primary forest that are still very natural.

Birds of this type are rarely found in disturbed forest areas.

This bird can be found in peninsular Malaysia, Kalimantan, and Sumatra.

Forest destruction and trade without regulation is the cause of the scarcity of this bird species.

Mentok Rimba

Jungle Mentok is a type of bird from the duck family.

His body looks very much like a duck which is often kept by the community.

However, stuck jungle can fly and can only live in a natural environment.

In Indonesia, it is estimated that there are only around 150.

This bird lives on the island of Sumatra, especially in Way Kambas National Park, Lampung.

Bird Kehicap Boano

This bird is an endemic bird on the island of Buano, Maluku, not found anywhere else.

At present the number is estimated to only be around 200.

Unfortunately, the hummingbird boano has not been included in the list of protected bird species.

Javanese eagle

Birds that are identical to the symbol of Indonesia are protected animals because they are endangered.

Endemic birds on the island of Java are experiencing scarcity because their habitat is increasingly limited.

Banggai Crow

Birds from the crow's family are very endangered.

Previously, even the Banggai Crow had already been declared extinct, but later this species was found on Peleng Island, Central Sulawesi.

There are still many other rare bird species with critical or endangered status.

Without public awareness to protect the environment and wildlife, thousands of these exotic bird species will not be able to survive.

Hopefully with this information, we can protect rare birds in Indonesia that are endangered together.
