Changes in Culture and Shape

Changes in culture is an acceptance of new ways or an improvement in the way people meet their needs. So, cultural changes occur in accordance with the development of the supporting community. There is no support from the community, so there will be no change, whether in the positive or negative direction.

During his life, every human being (society in a broad sense) must experience changes. If for example it is related to the definition of culture described by Taylor as I have previously posted, where culture is a complex that includes elements such as knowledge, belief, art, morality, law, customs, and every human ability and habit as citizens , then the change can occur through the elements of the culture both for individuals or society, whether it occurs slowly or quickly.

For example, Si A or society A, in 1994 was very blind to the world of the internet. However, in 2015, almost 90% of the people know little about the internet, the benefits and disadvantages. Based on this example, the A community experiences a cultural change in terms of science and technology.

From the few descriptions and examples above, forms of cultural change include:
  1. Changes that occur slowly or in other terms are known as Evolution. An example is the evolution of equipment in the Old Stone era. In the Old Stone Age, equipment used by humans as a means of survival, so long lasted for thousands of years. Or if in Indonesia it is during the Independence period, after being colonized for hundreds of years.
  2. Changes that occur quickly or in scientific terms are called Revolution. One example is the Industrial Revolution
  3. Changes that have little influence. Examples of clothing, hairstyles and so on. Small here means that, changes only occur for some people, not comprehensive.
  4. Changes that have a big effect, for example the process of industrialization of agrarian societies, or for more easily I exemplify the existence of electricity, telephone, television and so on.
  5. Changes planned or desired. For example, in a broad sense it can be exemplified by the existence of Repelita which had been carried out during the New Order era. And in a narrow sense, it can be exemplified when someone plans a wedding. Of course after marriage, there are changes that occur between the married couple
  6. Changes that are not desired or planned. For example, the western style of fashion with indulgence in vulgarity in public that can cause things that are not desirable.

That is the purpose of cultural change and its form, whether it happens to every individual or society at large.
